Manual
The best introduction to exploRase is the manual.
Published papers
Several papers have been published on exploRase and its predecessor GeneGobi:
- Exploring Gene Expression Data, Using Plots
-
Visual Methods for Data from Two Factor Single-Replicate Gene Expression Studies
- Lee, E.-K., Cook, D., Hofmann, H., Wurtele, E., Kim, D., Kim, J., and
An, H. (2004) GeneGobi: Visual Data Analysis Tools for Microarray

Physica-Verlag, Heidelberg, 1397-1404.
Slides
Here are some slides from formal and informal presentations on exploRase and
its predecessor GeneGobi.
What are these weird filenames?
The exploRase data files are named according to the
exploRase filename convention (EFC). The names of the files tell exploRase the type of data they contain, so that
exploRase knows how to load them automatically. The table below describes the EFC:
type | data extension | file extension | example |
transcriptomic data | gene | data | mittler.gene.data |
proteomic data | prot | data | some-proteins.prot.data |
metabolomic data | met | data | suh-yeon.met.data |
gene information | gene | info | affy25k.gene.info |
protein information | prot | info | some-proteins.prot.info |
metabolite information | met | info | suh-yeons-metabolites.met.info |
interesting entities | | list | my-favorite-pathway.list |
experimental design | | design | mittler.design |
